TTIA - Texas Tourism Foundation Scholarship

TTIA / Texas Tourism Foundation Scholarship Program
The Texas Travel Industry Association/Texas Tourism Foundation Scholarship program was established in 2001 by its membership. The purpose of the fund is to support the educational system by providing student scholarships to current employees or to the immediate family (immediate family is defined as spouse, children and parents) of employees of current TTIA member organizations. Scholarship applicants may be recent high school graduates or current college students.

2013-2014 Scholarship Application Process

Applications Are No Longer Being Accepted for 2013-2014

Scholarship Amount: $1,500

Application Materials Needed: 

For your information to be reviewed, the following materials must be submitted with your application: (Do not staple, bind or pre-punch materials) 

  • Completed application (use blue or black ink only)
  • Current resume (include accomplishments – work related and/or personal)
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty professors and/or employers
  • Current official transcript(s) from an accredited Texas high school and/or Texas college/university. Transcripts must be in sealed envelopes. High school transcripts only required by graduating high school applicants. (Copies and faxed copies are not accepted)
  • 250+ word essay (typed) – Please discuss your career goals, academic and extracurricular activities, etc. and tell us how your work experience, internships, etc. will relate to your future goals. Also, tell us why you would deserve a TTIA/TTF scholarship over other candidates.


DEADLINE: All applications and the above information MUST be postmarked on or before Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Persons eligible for the award:
  • Must be a current employee or an immediate family member (immediate family is defined as spouse, children and parents) of a person that is employed at a current TTIA member organization
  • Must be enrolled in the school’s fall semester of the calendar year of application at an accredited Texas college/university
  • Must be enrolled to take a minimum of 9 credit hours (unless participating in a school sponsored internship in which case the minimum requirements are 6 hours)
  • Must have an official transcript(s) from a Texas high school and/or accredited Texas college/university with a 2.75 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale


Information About The Award:

Scholarships are valued at $1,500 and are valid for one school year only. The funds are intended to be used for tuition fees and books.

The TTIA/TTF Scholarship Committee meet in early July to review the applicants’ information, and the award recipient(s) are notified by the end of July. TTIA’s Texas Tourism Foundation will notify the Texas college/university and make the funds available through their Financial Aid Office prior to the fall semester. Any unused scholarship funds will revert back to TTIA’s Texas Tourism Foundation.

Award recipient(s) are announced at TTIA’s Texas Travel Summit Awards Luncheon, held each September. Recipient(s) will have the opportunity to attend the educational sessions and luncheon that day at no charge. A photo op will be scheduled as well.

Award recipient(s) can only receive a total of two scholarships and must reapply to be considered for future scholarships.

The Texas Travel Industry Association and Texas Tourism Foundation have the right to disqualify applicants who do not meet the above criteria. TTIA and TTF also have the right to contact the Texas college/university to request information related to the academic progress of all awardees during the calendar year of the application.

* Sponsoring Organizations are TTIA members where either the applicant works or is an immediate family member of an employee of that organization.
